Check Out The Amazing Kinetic Rain Sculpture at Singapore Airport

No one likes it when their flight is delayed, and for good reason. Most airports get pretty boring after you stroll through the available shops. Not Singapore Changi Airport though, because that’s where this incredible Kinetic Rain sculpture resides. Visit the airport’s Terminal 1 departure area and enjoy the amazing sculpture for as long as you want.

1,216 aluminum raindrops plated in copper dance around in 15-minute sequences forming 3D shapes and different patterns. Depending on where you’re looking from, you can see it forming the shape of an airplane, a hot air balloon, a kite, and even a dragon! No matter the angle of viewing, the sculpture is simply mesmerizing. Just make sure not to miss your flight because of it!

“The specially commissioned moving sculpture is made up of 1,216 bronze rain droplets that transform elegantly into multiple shapes, akin to poetry in motion. Come and see Kinetic Rain for yourself at Changi Airport Terminal 1 Departure Check-in Hall,” the promotional video description reads.

It took around 20 months to create the Kinetic Rain masterpiece. The sculpture uses multiple high precision motors to control the choreography and it required artists, technologists, and programmers to work together in order to make it.
