Check Out These Hyperrealistic Paper Sculptures

Sarah Suplina from New York has many descriptions to her name: she is a paper artist, designer, art teacher, mom, wife, and introvert with endless dreams.

The New England-born Suplina says that her favorite medium is paper and describes her aesthetic as “small, endearing collages and snippets which capture and celebrate the world around us”.

“I can’t get enough of the delicious layers, textures, and versatility of paper,” she told in an interview for Ballpit. “My process is both very thoughtful and freewheeling at the same time. I start with the desired image and then I get to work. I start with painting my own paper. I then get to drawing, cutting, layering and gluing.”

She studied Fine Arts at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where she earned her Master’s degree. Inspired by her surroundings, seasons and her personal experiences, both the ordinary and extraordinary, the artist sees art as her “passion, her work, her frustration, and her comfort”.
