Common Objects are Combined into Interactive Illustrations

How many times have you looked at a common object or everyday item and realized it reminds you of something else completely? Well, there is no need for alarm. This doesn’t happen just to you but to everyone else too.

This psychological phenomenon is called Pareidolia and is described tendency to “perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.” It is a completely normal occurrence and happened to almost everyone from time to time.

Most people often tend to brush off Pareidolia and move on with their life. But artist Ali Abd Al-Razzaq took a different route. He decided to use it as the basis for his artworks.

Al-Razzaq creates “interactive illustrations” which combine common objects and everyday items with drawings. He uses the objects and items to replace certain parts of the drawing, giving them a new meaning and purpose.

For example, he used a staple remover as a substitute for a snake’s head, and it works like a charm. Once you see the similarities, you will have a hard time unseeing them after.

In other cases, he deepens the connection between the drawing and the item, creating the feeling like the item directly influences what happens on the paper.

Al-Razzaq has been creating his “interactive illustrations” since 2013, and he doesn’t intend to stop until he runs out of ideas. Judging by his creativity, however, we guess that won’t happen anytime soon. Check out more of these entertaining works below.
