Daniele Barresi Is Turning Fruit Carving Into an Art Form

Many fruit carvers have found viral fame over the years as their incredibly intricate creations took the internet by storm, but none of them compare to Daniele Barresi. He put this underrated art form on the map, striking corporate deals and winning awards along the way.

Barresi’s story starts in a charming commune of Bagnara Calabra, Italy when he was just seven years old. This was the first time he gave fruit carving a shot, and nothing has been the same since. Barresi describes this as the best period of his life because it opened the door to his future.

“When I touch my knife, my mind gives up to the heart and transmits directly to the hands, giving different forms to the decorations. It’s like magic,” Barresi told Bored Panda.

He used nothing but a knife to create some magic with all sorts of different fruits and veggies, ranging from avocados and broccoli to watermelons and papayas. It takes him just 30 minutes to finish up some of his carvings, while others take hours, based on their complexity.

After mastering the art of carving fruits, Barresi experimented with all sorts of other materials, including soap, cheeses, foam, and resin. He’s also won awards at multiple carving events, including the European Fruit and Vegetable Carving Championship.
