France-based botanical artist Denise Ramsay paints gentle and elegant flowers with an incredible amount of details. She uses watercolor paints and focuses on the capitulum, the head of the flower. Her works could easily be mistaken for macro photographs, given the realistic colors and the artistic skills of this talented artist.
“(Watercolor) gives me the fluid and transparent washes of color that I need to create the glow of color, light, and shadows to make each flower look like it floats effortlessly in space,” Ramsay told This is Colossal. “My aim is to show them in new and interesting ways, to take a simple ordinary flower and elevate it.”
She currently has around 4,000 Instagram followers but we’re sure it’s just a matter of time before her amazing paintings get through to a larger audience. See them below.
