The IT prequel series is currently in development, and the fans of another series set in a town called Derry had a thing or two to say about it. The series is being developed under the working title Welcome to Derry, and the fans of Derry Girls flooded the post announcing this project with hilarious tweets.

Just like the IT movies, the prequel series will be taking place in Derry, described as “Maine’s most haunted city” by the author Stephen King. Pop Crave’s post announcing the project caught the attention of fans of a show set in the city of the same name—Derry Girls—and their response was as funny as it gets.

Fans of the beloved Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls imagined the world where the upcoming prequel series was actually set in Derry, Northern Ireland, not Derry, Maine. Their viral tweets showed several characters from the hit show commenting on the news there’s a killer clown on the loose in their town and hilariously described their encounters with Pennywise.

The tweets were clearly fueled by the fans’ nostalgia for Derry Girls, after the beloved show ended its run last year. The response was so funny that even Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee commented on it by tweeting, “You’re outdoing yourselves in the replies lads.”
