Gacek the Cat is the Top-Rated Attraction in the Polish City of Szczecin

When people decide to visit a city, they usually do it because of culture, architecture, or food. But while Szczecin, Poland, has all of this to offer to its visitors, its top-rated tourist attraction is actually a cat named Gacek.

Gacek is a black and white cat who lives on Kaszubska Street. He has his own little wooden house that keeps him sheltered from the elements and likes to spend his time hanging out with tourists that come bringing food and asking for cuddles. Gacek will gladly take food, but cuddles depend on his mood on a particular day.

It is unclear how Gacek rose to fame, but he was profiled for the first time in 2020 by the local website wSzczecinie. Since then, his popularity only grew, with both locals and tourists wanting to see this unusual attraction.

Before the story about Gacek surfaced again in recent weeks, he had a perfect 5-star review on Google. He left in the dust some of Szczecin’s most famous tourist attractions, including the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle.

“It was worth traveling three hours to feel ignored by him. Recommended,” said one of the reviews.

However, at the time of the writing, Gacek’s Google page had disappeared. It is unclear whether it might become alive again, but thankfully, there is an Instagram profile that tracks his newest adventures.
