Belgium-based artist Raphael Vanhomwegen likes to create his art as quickly as possible in a process he calls “visual brainstorming”. The technique allows him to make spontaneous artwork without thinking too much, which results in stunning colorful paintings.
The artist uses different color palettes in order to present different atmospheres. From monochromatic to neutrals and vibrant colors, we love them all! “Every brushstroke should have a meaning in order to be visually interesting,” Vanhomwegen shared with Colossal. This is idealistic, of course. I am also one of those people who think nothing is more beautiful than a sketch. I almost never saw a finished drawing look better than a very good sketch.”
As he paints, he enjoys focusing on internal thoughts and implements them in the given painting. In many of his artworks, there are some figures hanging out on the balconies or birds that fly overhead, which makes the paintings look more alive.
