New nail artists are popping up on Instagram every day, but those who leave a permanent mark are extremely rare. Naomi Yasuda is lucky enough to be one of them, and she attracted many celebrity clients and thousands of followers with her unique manicures.
Shortly after graduating with her degree in nail design from Chunichi Beauty College in Japan, Yasuda moved to New York City in 2007. She started working as a nail artist full-time and slowly built a loyal clientele, which now includes A-list stars such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Bebe Rexha.
Yasuda’s manicures are the very definition of extravagant, and she always comes up with new ways to surprise us. She enjoys experimenting with different colors, patterns, and details, and many of her epic nail art designs made it to magazine covers and fashion shows.
When it comes to inspiration, Yasuda uses fashion and art as her driving force, instead of trying to copy other nail artists. There are instances when her clients ask her to recreate someone else’s designs, but she doesn’t consider this work as her own, because she’s constantly trying to be original.
