The world of ceramic art never ceases to amaze us, because we’re constantly coming across new artists who are doing something completely extraordinary and unique. Nastia Calaca falls under that category, and she won us over with her fun and quirky animal sculptures.
The Ukrainian artist fell in love with ceramic art because it brings her childish joy and excitement. Her creations are anthropomorphized in nature because she draws inspiration from people around her—sometimes even complete strangers.
“Since I draw inspiration from people around me, my creations tend to resemble someone passing me on the way to the studio, a stranger at the bar, my family member, or that one guy who unwrapped his candy at the opera,” Calaca told Creative Boom.
Despite the fact they’re created with distinct people in mind, Calaca’s sculptures still resemble the animals they represent. Still, there’s always a couple of tiny quirks that make them different from their real-life counterparts. In addition to animal sculptures, she also makes teapots, pot holders, plates, and other objects available for purchase on her official website and Etsy store.
