Dogs are usually not friendly toward delivery drivers. They want to protect their household at all costs and don’t like to see intruders barging in. However, one Golden Retriever named Ryder is taking a different approach, and it is resulting in a lot of belly rubs for him.
A viral video posted recently on TikTok shows Ryder lying on a bench outside his owner’s house while a delivery driver approaches to leave a package. The dog recognizes an opportunity to get some belly rubs, rolling over and starting to fall off the bench.
The delivery driver acts quickly to catch the dog and ease his fall. But Ryder is completely unfazed and just remains lying until he gets the belly rubbing he wants.
“Delivery drivers, what can’t they do,” it says in the caption of the video.
The adorable interaction and the golden retriever’s sneaky tactic for scoring belly rubs received 30 million views on TikTok alone in a matter of days. It also attracted more than 16K comments, with other TikTok users celebrating the credentials of golden retrievers as guard dogs.
