To say that Isamaya Ffrench’s makeup looks are striking would be an understatement. Bold, alien, and unapologetic, Ffrench elevates the art of makeup into a surreal art form, that is hard to look away from.
“I have my own instincts about beauty and what moves me and that’s what I pursue,” explained the makeup artist in an interview with Forbes, explaining that making celebrities pretty doesn’t tickle her fancy. Instead, she chooses to explore a darker side to the beauty industry, calling to question are very ideas about beauty.
Her artistic approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. In fact, she’s worked with some of the hottest celebrities out there – icons like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus, proving that even the world’s rich and famous are looking for that extra edge. Beginning her career by face painting at children’s parties, Ffrench expanded her tool kit by collaborating with photographers such as David Sims and Mert and Marcus on shoots for Interview Magazine, Dazed Magazine, and Vogue Italia, among others.
