Get Lost in Mattias Adolfsson’s Chaotic Sketchbook Drawings

Mattias Adolfsson is a Swedish artist and freelance illustrator who likes to get the most out of his sketchbooks. He fills each page until there is no more place left, resulting in chaotic drawings that are mesmerizing to look at.

Adolfsson carries his sketchbooks wherever he goes. This allows him to start drawing as soon as he gets hit with inspiration. The drawings usually begin as a simple sketch or a doodle and then grow organically until it fills up the two pages of his sketchbook.

This talented artist initially completes his sketchbook drawings with ink. After finishing them, he creates shadows by using ink wash before adding color with watercolors.

So far, Adolfsson has completed 41 sketchbooks, each filled with drawings from the first to the last page. The works featured in his sketchbooks have been published in the form of art books, and the artist also shares them on social media.

Thanks to this unique project, Adolfsson also attracted attention from some high-profile brands and created art for Disney, Atelier Choux, and Nickelodeon. His works have also been featured on album covers for a number of music albums, including Weezer’s 2021 release OK Human.
