If you’re looking for a nature preserve to make your week, look no further than Green’s Bluff. Residing in Indiana’s Owen County, it’s actually comprised of two different properties, but the entire area as a whole is something to behold. Whether you’re someone who gets a kick out of upland forests, beautiful rocky bluffs, or glistening creeks, this nature preserve is a no-brainer visit for you.

These aforementioned bluffs are incredibly steep and are home to an astounding grove of eastern hemlock trees, which happens to be a tree species unique to Indiana alone. These trees allow for a cool, relaxing shade while you observe the wonderful views.

In addition to the trees, this preserve also is unique in that it has a great blue heron rookery, and entrances to caves that provide an eerie quality to the area. Given the fact that this preserve is 1,134 acres large, it’s no surprise that there’s so much variety there.

Although Green’s Bluff was established originally in 1985, there are always potential threats to its existence. For this reason, the Conservancy consistently adds more acreage, plants more trees, and protects the land from threats of development. If you’re interested in checking out this preserve, be sure to take pictures but be respectful towards the property.
