Yuliya Krishchik’s Embroidery Art Will Take You to Space

Art has the power to transport you to places that you would’ve never dreamed of visiting, including outer space. Yuliya Krishchik is one of the rare embroidery artists who decided to focus on this theme, and her dreamy hoops mix nature and space into one.

Krishchik’s embroidery hoops are a magical portal to a different world, and her approach to embroidery is quite unique. She uses several different techniques to give her hoops a textured look, making it seem like they’ve been painted with oil or watercolors.

Colorful planets, spiraling galaxies, and shiny stars come together to form whimsical dreamscapes that Krishchik’s work is best known for. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’s opposed to botanical embroidery—she often combines space motifs with blue streams, tranquil ponds, and gardens full of flowers.

Krishchik is a huge believer that everything around us co-exists in perfect harmony, and she wanted her embroidery art to reflect that idea.

“The idea of a universal connection is very inspiring to me. Nothing in the world stands apart. Everything in the universe is a continuous web of threads. My works reflect this idea—it is a kind of allegory of touching the universe with my own hands and eyes,” the artist told My Modern Met.
