Gustavo Viselner Creates Pixel Art Scenes Inspired By Movies and TV Series

Gustavo Viselner is a talented artist who gives your favorite movies and TV series a pixelated makeover. It might not be the makeover you wanted, but it is certainly the one you needed.

His works are not only an intriguing reimagination of pop culture staples but also appeal to video game enthusiasts. Watching Viselner’s artworks, you can easily imagine how would a retro game based on the hit series Breaking Bad or sci-fi classic Back to the Future look like.

“My work embraces pop culture influences and allows me to express my love and appreciation for all these wonderful stories and characters that I grew up watching, and that shaped my personality, “Viselner shared in a recent post on Bored Panda.

However, Viselner isn’t creating his pixel art scenes with video games in mind. According to him, pixelization should no longer be exclusively viewed as a graphic tool for games, with pixilated illustrations being able to be standalone works of art.

Pixelization has seen a revival in recent years thanks to a number of modern pixel art games like Prodigal and Children of Morta. If the trend continues, there is no reason to doubt that Viselner’s goal of establishing pixel art independently of video games is attainable. In the meantime, check out more of his works below.
