We’ve seen Disney characters recreated in many creative ways and different styles, from real life princesses to chubby versions. Russian artist Andrew Tarusov gave them a Tim Burton-esque twist, turning these lovable characters into darkly, corpse-like versions of their former selves.
Each illustration features an empty stare in a skeletal form, rendered in a muted color palette. The artist doesn’t mean to scare people but he just want to honor Burton’s iconic animation style.
“I love how Burton’s style looks vintage, chic, and cute all at the same time,” Tarusov told HelloGiggles. “His work is often marketed as ‘horror’ movies, but at the same time, it’s not a horror… It could be any genre.”
Tarusov also reimagined other famous movies into Burtonesque approach such as Star Wars and Game of Thrones.
