High School Art Teacher Draws Masterpieces for His Students in Chalk

The first thing that students do when they walk into the classroom is to look at the board, to see what’s in store for the lesson that day. One art teacher decided to surprise his students and use the chalkboard to create masterful drawings of characters and famous paintings.

Hirotaka Hamasaki, from Nara, Japan, is a graphic designer and full-time high school art teacher. He is so passionate about his job and was trying to come up with ways to entertain his students when they first walked into his classroom when this idea came to him. He told Bored Panda about how important his students are to him. “I love them and I always want to bring joy through my art,” he said.

Hamasaki’s artworks are so impressive—it’s no surprise that these take a lot of time to complete. Drawing these “can last 3 minutes, 3 hours, or even 3 days, so it differs from one drawing to another,” he explained. No wonder they are so detailed.

Hamasaki’s talent is so impressive, and he doesn’t mind that they are drawn on chalkboards, just to be erased after a few days—he’ll just draw a new one the next day! You can be entertained by his chalk drawings like his students, on his Instagram!
