Hurdy Gurdy “Sweet Dreams” Cover by Patty Gurdy

Musician Patty Gurdy created this unique cover of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics on a hurdy-gurdy and we loved it too much not to share with you. Born in Germany, Patricia Büchler a.k.a. Patty Gurdy started playing the instrument in 2014. She describes her style as “dark folk pop”.

Hurdy-gurdy is a string instrument that makes a sound when you turn its wheel that rubs against the strings. The sound it makes is similar to the sound produced on a violin.

“This is a cover of the song Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics,” the musician wrote in the video description. “This instrument is called “hurdy gurdy” and has its roots in the medieval times. It works like a mechanical violin with a wheel bow, that can play bass, melody and rhythm all at once.”
