Jack Snelling’s Summer-Inspired Zine Is “Absurdly Joyful”

If you’re already cold and tired of winter, checking out Jack Snelling’s cheerful summer-inspired illustrations is a great way to get warmer. They’re called Summer Munchies, and as the artist calls them, they are “absurd joy”.

Snelling lives and works in Brighton, UK, where he’s known for his unique illustration style, which includes round characters, limited color palettes, and small scenes.

“What started as an idea for a card to send to a friend in Italy became a full-blown project,” he tells Creative Boom. “It found me cherry-picking (no pun intended) my favorite meals and foods, challenging myself to create witty, celebratory images.”

We’re glad he chose this path because otherwise we wouldn’t have these cheerful and colorful illustrations. Snelling holds a degree in animation from the University of Westminster, and he worked many different jobs before finally deciding to take his art to a more serious level. You can get his prints and the zine in his online shop and check out more of his work on Instagram.
