Aquaman star Jason Momoa is known for being an environmental activist and huge opponent of single-use plastics. Recently, Momoa decided to show how passionate he is about the issue by shaving his signature long hair.

Momoa’s long hair has been his trademark ever since he captured the attention of television audiences with his role of Khal Drogo in HBO’s fantasy hit Game of Thrones. It might be a bit strange to see him sporting his new look, but it helps because it’s for a good cause.

In a video posted on social media, Momoa can be seen sitting on a chair with a person by his side. After showing his cut-off braids, he starts talking about how single-use single-use plastics like water bottles and forks are damaging the Earth.

“I’m here in Hawaii right now, and just seeing things in our ocean, it’s just so sad,” he says in the video. “Please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your lives. Help me, plastic bottles are ridiculous… we’re going to keep going—oh, man. Love you guys. Aloha.”

Shortly after cutting his hair, Momoa used the opportunity to add a new head tattoo.

Besides raising awareness, Momoa is also trying to make a difference with his brand of water called Mananalu. This water comes in recyclable aluminum bottles, and part of the profit is being used to clean the oceans.
