Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, was never afraid to show his musical side. He often makes music skits on his show but has also released two studio albums and has several singles under his name.
Despite already having a record of music success, Fallon recently decided to get an official confirmation of his talent and take part in the singing reality competition The Voice. As a bonus, he had a chance to prank his celebrity friends and show judges Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance the Rapper.
During The Voice’s blind auditions, the judges face away from the candidates and can only hear them sing. If they are pleased with what they hear, they press a button that turns their chair towards the candidate and also represents a vote of approval. This allowed Fallon to keep the judges impartial and only rely on his singing chops to impress them.
After being announced by host Carson Daly, Fallon walked out on the stage and started signing Michael McDonald’s big hit “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near).” The crowd started cheering when they recognized him, which got the judges intrigued. Clarkson was the first one to press her button, followed by Horan and Chance The Rapper.
Shelton was the only one who wasn’t impressed, forcing Fallon to walk to his chair and press the button himself.
“You can’t do that!” Shelton said while laughing. “You broke the rules!”
When he ended the audition, Fallon said that he was filming across the street and wanted to congratulate Shelton for his 23rd and final season on The Voice. Check out the whole thing in the video below.
