Julia Stankevych’s Food Art Looks Just as Tasty as the Real Thing

Food art experienced a true boom in recent years, largely thanks to the artists capable of making it look incredibly real. Julia Stankevych is one of those artists, and her oil paintings of delicious treats look just as good as their real-life contra parts.

Stankevych is a 24-year-old contemporary artist who hails from Ukraine, and she made quite a splash online since she started sharing her work with the world. She gained over 160,000 followers on Instagram, and some of her videos attracted millions of views on this social media platform.

Stankevych is usually painting on newspapers, using gesso to prepare the canvas for her impasto paintings of food. From ice cream and pancakes to seafood, fruits, and veggies, no food is off limits for this talented artist, and it’s not a coincidence she opted for this subject matter.

“I work primarily in oil paint, sometimes to find the brightest of colors in life, but at other times to express shapes in the gloom and the dark… I love to depict food, to convey its taste, smell, and sensation through paints and canvas. I try to create an image that will evoke only positive emotions,” she explains on her Etsy page.
