Those old-school penny-farthings sure look cool, but they are not very practical. Due to their size and design, you can’t actually ride them on rough and steep terrain. Still, that didn’t stop British mountain biker and TikTok user Sam Pilgrim from trying.
Pilgrim, who rides mountain bikes professionally and is an FMB World Tour champion, developed a huge social media following thanks to a variety of stunts he posts on his TikTok and YouTube channels. In the past, Pilgrim did flips with tricycles, performed tricks with a wooden-wheel bike, and much more.
Recently, Pilgrim managed to get his hands on a penny-farthing bike and decided to see how it would look like if it was used in the same manner as a mountain bike.

Pilgrim really pushed the penny-farthing to its limits, taking it on mountain bike trails, BMX tracks, and “full speed hill bombs.” And despite some challenges along the way, he proved it could be done.
“I had a few crashes but as I neared the bottom the bike got better and better and I really think it has potential!” he shared. “After riding the huge mountain I ride a pump track and try some jumps and even manage to get this thing in the air off a perfect farthing jump.”
