Before becoming a social media superstar, with 2.9 million followers on TikTok and 1.9 million more on Instagram, Whaley was an IT consultant in her late twenties. Once Zoom meetings and countless emails became her new reality, Whaley decided to laugh her way through frustration and started sharing hilarious work-related videos with the world.
Her “How do you say professionally?” clips became an especially big hit, and they were inspired by her strange ability to translate the most obscure things that go through her mind into and make them sound corporate, professional, and a little passive-aggressive.
“That’s how this idea was born. I wanted it to be funny and relatable about what people want to say if they could be honest, and actually get value out of the videos,” she told The Globe and Mail.
