Meg Ikarp is Reimagining Modern-Day Movie and TV Characters Through an Anime Lense

The list of illustrators who focus on creating pop culture-inspired art is pretty much endless, but there’s something that sets Meg Ikarp from most others. Her illustrations pay homage to her favorite movie and TV characters and she enjoys reimagining them through the anime lens.

Since starting her Instagram page @meg.ikarp, this teen illustrator attracted almost 150,000 followers and shared over 200 illustrations, and she’s showing no signs of stopping. Despite being just 18 years old, Meg already has a very distinctive style, clearly inspired by anime.

She describes herself as a “00s kid with a 00s aesthetic”, who enjoys drawing and writing for fun. Her illustrations are usually inspired by modern-day movies and TV shows, but she also enjoys paying homage to timeless classics, in addition to drawing illustrations inspired by her favorite singers, such as Britney Spears and Olivia Rodrigo.

You’ll especially love Meg’s Instagram page if you’re a sucker for a good teen movie or a TV show. She equally enjoys recent releases, such as Euphoria and Stranger Things, and 90s and early 2000s movies that we all know and love, such as Clueless, Mean Girls, and The Princess Diaries. Her drawing style makes them even more adorable, and that’s exactly the part of her charm.
