Natalie Ciccoricco’s Paper Embroidery Has To Be Seen To Be Believed

Embroidery can be pretty difficult even when you’re working with fabric, but Natalie Ciccoricco opted for a completely different approach. She’s making the impossible possible with her paper embroidery creations, which have to be seen to be believed.

Ciccoricco fell in love with embroidery during her college years, when her mom sent her a large bag of embroidery thread. She decided to use it as a creative means to express herself, but she decided to use different materials than most other embroidery artists.

Ciccoricco started using embroidery thread in combination with other materials such as old books, magazines, photographs, and other forms of paper, making her creations unique and sustainable at the same time.

“In her work, you’ll often see old images, books, magazines, natural materials, and ephemera being re-used. In doing so, it is her hope to bring new life to these materials, so they can be enjoyed and appreciated once again,” she explains on her official website.

Since kicking off her journey almost a decade ago, Ciccoricco has learned how to weave together complex narratives on paper, becoming a successful mixed media artist. In addition to attracting almost 100,000 followers on Instagram and offering commissioned artwork, she also has taken part in multiple art exhibitions across the US.
