Paper Cut Artist Creates The Cutest Miniature Houses

Being a paper cut artist with an architectural background, Ellie Sampson makes miniature houses that can fit into your palm. The North London-based model maker and workshop manager explains that she has had a creative mind since she was a little girl. She loved making figures of famous people from empty toilet paper rolls and even wanted to recreate a computer from a cereal box!

Inspired by comic books, films, and travelogues, the artist explains that there are lots of stages in her paper modeling process. However, her current favorite is the digital one.

“I unpeel the layers of 3D forms digitally in order to piece them all together again by hand. I build a model using CAD software. This allows me to sort of sculpt and tweak the base forms of the model or scene,” the artist explained in an interview for Ballpit. In the end, she says, it all looks like she is playing with 3D puzzles.

She says that the process takes quite some time, but looking at the final product is so rewarding.
