Pizza Hut Teams With Youtuber Eric Decker to Make World’s Biggest Pizza

Can pizza ever be too big? We don’t think so, and neither does Pizza Hut. This is why the world-famous pizza chain teamed up with Youtuber Erick Decker aka Airrack to make the world’s biggest pizza.

The pizza, which was part of the promotion for the return of Pizza Hut’s “Big New Yorker,” was “built” in the Los Angeles Convention Center earlier this week. It ended up measuring 13,990 square feet and needed 13,653 pounds of dough. For toppings, 4,948 pounds of pizza sauce, 8,800 pounds of cheese, and 630,496 pieces of pepperoni were used.

Baking the pizza was as much of a challenge as it was assembling it. It needed to be baked in batches and then re-assembled on site.

The Guinness Book of World Records representative was at the site where the pizza was being made and officially confirmed that it was the biggest pizza in the world. The previous record was set in 2012 with a 13,580-square-foot pizza made by a group of Italian chefs.

Of course, the pizza didn’t go to waste. According to Pizza Hut’s CEO David Graves, as soon as Guinness confirmed the record, the pizza was sliced into roughly 68,000 slices and shipped to LA’s food banks.
