Polish Street Artist Creates Intricate Lace Murals on Buildings

Lace decorations are part of tradition in many parts of the world. Most regions even have their own style, designs, and shapes in lace that are particular for that region only. Unfortunately, lacemaking has been considered old-fashioned lately, with newer generations losing appreciation for it. Polish street artist NeSpoon is now trying to change that one mural at a time.

NeSpoon adopted lace as her signature style after working with it during her ceramic practice. She found lace motifs highly inspiring and beautiful on their own, which inspired her to start using them in her street art.

In recent years, NeSpoon traveled all across Europe to “decorate” as many buildings as she could with her lace murals. But while doing so, she always looks to respect the tradition of the city by recreating an existing piece from that place.

Sometimes this includes visiting museums, and other times, she asks the locals to provide her with a lace design that is typical for that area.

“I always find something,” she shares.

You can find NeSpoon’s works on buildings and facades in France, Italy, and Spain but also in other parts of the world like India and New Zealand. If you can’t make the trip, most of her works can also be enjoyed on her social media. Check out more of them below.
