Ruby Silvious is Painting… On Empty Teabags

People use the most random stuff to paint on, such as a human body, coins, paper bags, and much more. Nowadays, it is extremely hard to be innovative and use unique “canvases”. But artist Ruby Silvious found her calling in the unlikeliest of places—used teabags!

Five years ago, on January 3rd, 2015, she challenged herself and created a project titled 363 Days of Tea. This project involved her picking out tea leaves and doing what she’s best at: painting miniature images on the teabags.

Whimsical landscapes, portraits of animals, sunflowers, and teapots are just some of the beautiful creations you can find on her Instagram gallery and Etsy store. Almost all of her paintings are inspired by her international travels.

And since she has been painting on not-so-usual canvases, Silvious has been featured in media all around the world, like CNN TravelThe GuardianGood Morning America/ABC News, and so on.

It should also be noted that in addition to her art being incredible, she’s also helping the environment by re-using these teabags.
