Most pet owners leave their furry friends behind when they’re traveling, but not Dan and Olivia Nguyen. Their cats Sponge Cake, Mocha, and Donut became a true Instagram sensation once they started traveling the world alongside their owners.
After the world reponed for travel in the wake of a global pandemic, Dan and Olivia decided they wanted to explore more of it. They had a couple of trips planned, but leaving their cats at home wasn’t an option, so they decided to bring them along.
“It was hard to not be with the cats because we consider them our family. We know it’s a little untraditional to travel the world with a cat, let alone three, but we love them and they love us, so it doesn’t feel so crazy to us,” Dan told The New York Post.
Sponge Cake is a Scottish Fold, while Mocha and Donut are both British shorthairs. They spend most of their time in New York City, but we’ve seen them take photos everywhere from Paris to Milan and Venice over the years.
Dan Nguyen claims they only travel overseas two or three times a year, but they film a lot of content so it seems they’re on the road all the time. Their viral videos perfectly capture the ups and downs of traveling with your pet, and they’ve already attracted over 500,000 followers to their Instagram page, and 700,000 more on TikTok.
