]]>Schreckinger’s illustrations often see detailed depictions of animals interacting with each other or the world in unexpected ways. Octopuses are looking through a telescope while riding turtles, groups of stacked rabbits are jumping over trees, and giant birds are using lighthouses as their resting spots.
According to Schreckinger, her style was influenced by her fascination with colorless media. She enjoyed black-and-white photographs, television shows, and movies while growing up, so using black ink and graphite for her art felt like an obvious decision.
“Being exposed to the lighting effects and sharp contrasts shown in these photographs and films greatly inspired the type of work that she does today,” she explains in the artist statement posted on her website.
Schreckinger also adds that her work is centered around “giving a voice to nature and animals, with the goal of showcasing their importance in this world.” This is why most of her works feature either endangered animals or ones that are considered vulnerable in modern times.

]]>The post Yumi Okita is Celebrating Mother Nature Through Her Fiber Art appeared first on https://everydaymonkey.com.
]]>Okita is a Japanese-born artist based in North Carolina, who uses everything from hand-painted fabric and embroidery thread to feathers and faux fur to bring her works to life. Her main goal is to capture the realism of nature and manipulate it into the world of imagination.
Okita’s fiber sculptures usually take the shape of moths and butterflies, between 3.5 and 4.5 inches tall. She tries to emulate real specimens, using multiple layers of fabric and embroidery to give their wings, body, legs, and antennae some accuracy and realism. She enjoys taking creative liberties from time to time, but her works are usually as lifelike as the fabrics allow them to be.
Okita became a true sensation thanks to her insect-inspired fiber art, but her creations now go far beyond that. She also enjoys experimenting with botanical fiber sculptures, which often require more skill and attention to detail than insect sculptures that put her on the map.

]]>Bujana is a Lebanese-Venezuelan artist based in Barcelona, Spain, and it’s been over two decades since she fell in love with paper art. She studied architecture at university and started experimenting with paper during that time, finding a connection between two mediums.
“As an artist using paper as a primary medium, I’ve come to define my work as something between illustration and sculpture, with a strong focus on details and care at the heart of it all. My background in architecture comes through in my visual approach to composition,” she explains on her official website.
She’s always treated paper as a sculptural material, cutting, curving, layering, and shaping it to craft amazing works of art. She used the knowledge that she gained making architecture models to make her paper art bloom and her style significantly evolved over the years.
Raya is now one of the most popular paper artists on Instagram, and her page @littlerayofsunflower attracted over 150,000 followers so far. She mostly focuses on nature-inspired art, best known for its miniature scope.

]]>Take this painting right here, for instance. Doesn’t this make you just want to hop in a car (or get on a plane) and travel out into the wilderness? The painting seems to breathe life into the viewer, up to the point where there really are no words to describe its beauty. Such is the case for all of her paintings, which we’ve shared with you in this article.
The above painting is a tad different. It’s not of a faraway landscape, but an up-close depiction of nature in all of its beauty. Wilder describes it in her post as a semi-abstract series of grapes, and let’s just say we’re all for it. Clearly, this artist is a savant at painting art in all of its beautiful forms and we can’t get enough of it! Feel free to follow her profile on Instagram if you want more of the action.

]]>Bullen-Ryner is a self-described land artist who creates intriguing art pieces with the help of natural materials. Using her impressive observation skills and a keen eye for details, she arranges twigs, leaves, petals, and branches to look like colorful birds, mouses, or squirrels.
According to this talented mom of twin girls, she rarely does a pre-planned piece and usually lets the materials guide her through the process.
“I flow purely with found materials, creating ephemeral Mandalas or little bird visitors underneath my favorite Oak tree,” says Bullen-Ryner.
Bullen-Ryner’s cool works are unfortunately always temporary, but the artist herself prefers it that way.
“I take some photos and then walk or cycle away, leaving it all behind and feeling calmer, more connected, and truly lighter,” she adds.
