“The Happy Newspaper” Helps Spread Positivity

With so much bad in the world, we could use a little good in our life. The Happy Newspaper is up for the challenge, promoting positive news and wonderful people for a change. Spearheaded by Emily Coxhead, it also spans across colorful greeting cards, products and books all lovingly and individually designed by Coxhead, and featuring her recognizable quirky handwriting.

“Every single day there are people helping others and doing incredible things in all corners of the planet and the majority of them aren’t celebrated,” writes Coxhead on the newspaper’s website, “but we think they deserve to be recognised. We aim to bring a refreshing twist on what we typically know as ‘news’, reporting on positive changes and truly inspiring people.”

According to Coxhead, the newspaper’s purpose is not to deliver sad or terrifying news to your doorstep, but to share and celebrate positive, uplifting stories that are often overlooked. “For many people, understanding the idea behind the newspaper is one thing,” she writes, “but experiencing what a difference it makes to see and read solely positive articles is another.”

The Happy Newspaper includes such articles as “Cuddling Can Help Wounds Heal Faster,” and “Trash Man Builds Free Library Out of 20,000 Books Found In Bins.” Though the newspaper itself is made in the world’s tiniest office in a little village in North West England, it has now been read by over 12,000 subscribers in 33 different countries each quarter, and includes almost 300k followers on Instagram.
