If you enjoy the ocean and the sight of waves hitting the shore, then the works by Maria Risen might be just the thing for you. This talented artist from North Carolina creates some of the most amazing resin cheese boards and cutting boards and decorates them with amazing seascape art.
If we’re being perfectly honest with ourselves, these cutting boards are so inspiring that they probably make the food taste better!
Risen started working with resin two years ago. After some trial and error, she managed to perfect her process and has been wowing people with her signature ocean-inspired woodworks ever since.
She uses high-quality wood, mostly bamboo and acacia, for her bases and then adds colored resin to achieve the seascape look. Thanks to the nature of the process, every piece she makes is unique.
“Sometimes I think how such unique things can be obtained from a transparent liquid material,” Risen shared in a recent interview. Clearly she’s just as fascinated by her own art as we are!
