Jack Walters is a 23-year-old illustrator who is obsessed with the 1990s lifestyle. Besides wearing vintage clothing, he furnished his flat with retro furniture and pre-millennium items like VHS players, mobile phones, an old TV, and much more.
Walters currently lives in his parents’ three-bedroom cottage with his partner Matthew.
“I never really enjoyed modern decorating with all the greys. It didn’t have the homey quality, and I wanted to replicate that,” he said in a statement for Metro UK. “It’s an escape from the modern world. Some people go to the gym, some play video games, this is my thing.”
The illustrator finds all his treasures in charity shops and on eBay. He added that the most expensive item in his retro household is a 1980s TV that cost £155.
“At a push, I’d say my favorite item is probably my radio-alarm clock-telephone,” Walters added. “It’s very mundane, but I always feel a bit glam taking calls from my bedroom. I do love my bedroom. Though, as once you shut the door, you could be anywhere between the years 1990 and 2000.”
