Portland-based illustrator Madeline Martinez beautifully captures the moments of calmness and relaxation. She studied photography and started her career as a graphic designer before becoming a freelance illustrator. She quickly realized this is what she was meant to do and never stopped.
Martinez took every internship she could get in order to gain experience and worked a lot day after day. These beautiful illustrations are a result of that hard work and a lot of practice. You can really see that she’s perfected the skill over time. She includes a lot of her personal style in her art today, whether she’s working on commercial or personal projects.
“Illustration has always been part of who I am. I fell in love with drawing as soon as I could hold a crayon, and it’s the only true way I know how to share my way of seeing and thinking about the world,” Martinez writes on her website. She describes herself as an introvert who loves plants, animals, landscapes, and female soul. She spends most of her time with coffee and her sketchbook, and when she’s not inside, she’s walking her dog in nature.
