Vikki Zhang’s Vegetable Illustrations are Deliciously Bizzare

Many illustrators who found viral fame on Instagram stuck to relatable themes and simple lines, but Vikki Zhang opted for a completely different approach. She’s currently rocking our world with her strange vegetable illustrations and her creations are as intricate, colorful, and bizarre as it gets.

Zhang is based in Shanghai and she fell in love with art while studying Chinese painting as a child. She claims that this experience had a fundamental influence on her future artworks and led to her decision to attend an MFA program at the School of Visual Arts.

After her graduation in 2018, Zhang spent some time in New York, working on everything from fashion and book covers to toy designs and children’s books that she’s now best known for. She’s currently running Red Box Illustration Studio out of Shanghai and showcasing her work on social media.

Zhang explored many themes through her art over the years, but peculiar vegetable illustrations seem to be her favorite these days. She’s constantly sharing incredibly detailed illustrations of strange characters with vegetable heads, and giving them adorable names such as Miss Tomato, Miss Onion, and Miss Mushroom Red.
