World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Costs $6,696

If you have some extra money sitting around and you don’t know where to spend them, then the ice cream made by the Japanese company Cellato might be just the right thing for you. Their flagship ice cream Byakuya costs $6,696 (873,400 Japanese yen) and has just broken the Guinness World Record for the most expensive ice cream in the world.

The reason why Byakuya ice cream costs so much are high-priced ingredients required to make it. It uses a special white truffle that comes from Alba, Italy, that costs $15,192 per kilogram. Among other ingredients are Parmigiano Reggiano, sake lees, and edible gold.

According to the company, it took them one and a half years to perfect the ice cream.

The ones who had a chance to sample the ice cream say it is worth the price thanks to being rich in taste and texture. This is achieved by the robust fragrance of white truffle that combines well with the “complex and fruity tastes of Parmigiano Reggiano.”

“It took us over 1.5 years to develop, with a lot of trials and errors to get the taste right. Achieving a Guinness World Records title made the effort all worth it,” Cellato representative told the Guinness World Record official website.
