World’s Only Factory Matte Black Ferrari Enzo is Up for Auction

Ferrari Enzo is considered by many as one of the greatest sports cars ever made. It came out in 2004 and saw a limited release of only 400 units. Among those 400 Ferrari Enzos, only one was factory-painted in matte black. And it will now go up for auction at RM Sotheby’s.

Upon its release, Ferrari Enzo buyers had a limited selection of colors to choose from. Aside from Ferrari’s signature Rosso Corsa, there were also yellow, blue, silver, white, and gloss black. However, there was one buyer that wanted his car to come in Matte Nero Opaco, and Ferrari agreed because of his special status: he was a member of the royal family of Brunei.

The car wasn’t used as much, covering just 3,560 miles. Still, it was recently given a cosmetic lift by Ferrari’s official shop Carrozzeria Zanasi to get it in the best shape for auction.

“The one-off car was kept at the family’s London residence, where it made the occasional fleeting appearance rolling with menace around the streets of Hampstead, Mayfair, and Knightsbridge, before later being brought over to the Asia-Pacific region,” said the auction house.

Bidding for this unique car will take place on December 5-7, 2022. There will be no reserve price.
