Alain Biet’s “Grands Canons” Series Turned Into an Impressive Short Film

Alain Biet is a multidisciplinary French artist who has introduced himself to the art world with various intriguing and captivating projects in the past decades. But his most recognizable project has to be “Grands Canons” series.

As part of “Grands Canons,” Biet paints everyday items that any one of us probably has packed in a box, tucked in a drawer, or lying around the room. These artworks include depictions of headphones, showerheads, pencils, jars, and much more.

In most cases, Biet paints several iterations of the same item, showcasing their diversity.

Recently, Biet decided to reinvent his Grands Canons as material for a short film. He turned his illustrations into playful characters that dance, circle around each other, and are eager to capture the viewer’s attention.

“Superimposed, condensed, multiplied, thousands of documentary drawings in successive series come to life on the screen, composing a veritable visual symphony of everyday objects. The accumulation, both fascinating and dizzying, takes us on a trip through time,” it says in the description of the short film.

The short film was shown at several film festivals, receiving rave reviews from both the audience and the critics. If you liked it as well, you might appreciate more of Biet’s Grands Canons below.
