Alessandro Gallo is an Italian artist whose works could be described as part fascinating and part disturbing. Although a bit unusual, his work is surreal and has roots in realism.
Gallo creates sculptures of human-animal hybrids that are set in familiar surroundings and everyday situations. This, and the level of detail, makes them look so convincing that the viewer almost expects them to start interacting with their surroundings. Which would be a pretty cool idea, if we say so ourselves.
According to the artist, the idea of combining humans and animals in this particular way came out of his wish to exemplify the “human tendency to attach personality traits to the actions and habits of animals.”
