Andie Wheeler’s Faux Cakes Look 100% Real

We’ve seen many food artists rise to prominence since the emergence “everything is cake” trend, but Andie Wheeler put a twist on this craze. Her cakes look 100% real, even though they’re not cakes at all, but everyday objects posing as everyone’s favorite dessert.

Wheeler is a designer based in Sydney, Australia, who’s passionate about fashion, photography, and creating cakes. She’s also the founder of a fashion brand Nevada Clothing, but she ended up catching our eye with the creative project called Faux Cakes.

Wheeler’s art is inspired by the mantra “fake it, till you cake it” and her cakes aren’t edible despite the fact they look that way. She uses all sorts of different materials to recreate the cream-like textures and stunning decor of real cakes, but you’d be disappointed if you decided to take a bite.

Since Wheeler’s cakes aren’t as tasty as it looks, you might be wondering what’s the point, but it turns out they can be quite practical. Her vintage faux cakes are mostly used as props for decorations and photoshoots, but the magic doesn’t end there.

Some of them also take shape of ring boxes, mini bags, and mirrors—and you can shop for them all on Wheeler’s Etsy page.
