Most embroidery artists try to keep their art nice and neat, but Andreia Cabral isn’t afraid of stepping out of her comfort zone. She’s exploring mystical and peculiar themes through her embroidery creations, which look bizarre and beautiful, all at once.
Like most embroidery artists, Cabral doesn’t stray away from putting flora and fauna front and center in her work, but they’re not the reason why her brand Black Cat Creative Studio became a huge hit on Instagram. Her art shines the brightest whenever she’s exploring darker themes and giving her embroidery hoops an aura of mysticism.
Cabral was just four when her mother encouraged her to create something with needle and thread, and she’s been in love with embroidery ever since. She came a long way since creating an orange on a small piece of linen, and she’s now devoted to making embroidery with natural materials, giving each piece as much time and attention as possible.
“To take all the time needed, give each piece as much attention as possible, make only one-of-a-kind things, use natural good materials, respect these materials and the care they involved before falling in my hands by wasting nothing,” she writes on her Etsy page.
