Resin crafts are getting increasingly popular lately, and it isn’t hard to see why. They are not just joy to watch, but they also give artists a huge amount of creative freedom.
Turkish artist Samil Demirel is exploiting this in the best way possible, combining resin and wood to create beautifully designed lamps inspired by ocean and aquatic life. Resin allows him to capture calming aquatic scenes, like whales swimming or scuba divers exploring, while the wood gives the piece stability and frame.
The impressive thing about Demirel’s works is that they can be used as a decorative piece, but they also have a functional purpose and are most enjoyable when turned on in a dark room. The blue color of resin and the light from the bulb makes the impression of the ocean more convincing while the wood dubs as a reef.
