Art Collective MSCHF Releases Backwards Sneakers

MSCHF is back with another intriguing creation. The Brooklyn-based art collective recently presented its BDW Shoe, which is actually a sneaker worn backward.

The unique product looks like a sneaker at first glance, but it is actually worn like a sandal. And the opening for your foot is on the side where your toes should go in. All of this resulted in a pretty interesting look and understandably got the internet buzzing.

“Life can only be understood backwards but must be lived forward. That’s why you need two pairs of shoes, one for living and one for understanding,” says MSCHF about the product.

The BDW Shoe retailed for $135 through MSCHF’s webshop but are currently sold out. They are, however, available on the second-hand market, where they are offered anywhere from $357 to $794, depending on the size.

The buzz about the shoe was helped by its unusual design but also the fact that actor and musician Daniel Glover wore it to a recent NBA game and showcased them courtside.

This is MSCHF’s second big footwear release in 2023. Earlier this year, the collective released cartoonish Big Red Boot shoes, which also sold out and were worn by celebrities like Lil Nas X and Ciara.
