Alex Gross is a Los Angeles-based full-time artist who is in love with old photos and vintage pictures, especially the ones from the Victorian Era.
The 27-years old Gross, who says for himself that he would like if could have lived in the 19th century, came up with a remarkable idea to combine his two passions. By using oil and acrylic paints, he breathes new life into the vintage photographs from the 1870s, also known as cabinet cards, transforming them into stunningly looking vintage superheroes and characters of pop culture. This way the yesterday men and women from the Victorian era got transformed; like, for example, six ladies from the late 1800s became the characters of American Horror Story.
