Artist Plans to Paint All 151 Original Pokémon in Renaissance Style

Dutch artist Jochum Van der Woude recently decided to embark on a unique challenge during which he plans to paint all 151 original Pokémon in Renaissance style. And judging by his first couple of artworks, the series promises to be really special.

Van der Woude announced the project several weeks ago on Reddit, where he’s known under u/Dingaantouwtje moniker. His post showed finished paintings of Pikachu and Bulbasaur and quickly got the attention of Pokémon fans.

Pikachu was shown with a cute red beret while Bulbasaur was donning a fancy white scarf.

“I am working on 151 renaissance Pokemon paintings and haven’t seen my girlfriend since,” Van der Woude wrote in the post.

“whoaaa love your style! I need all 151 framed on my wall!” one user commented.

Van der Woude took time to thank everyone for positive feedback, promising that all of his paintings would be available for purchase. He also plans to release a series of prints for everyone who misses out on the original artwork.

So far, Van der Woude completed Renaissance-style paintings of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Lapras, and Chansey. He is currently putting the finishing touches on Psyduck as well.
