At first sight, Robin Eley’s paintings look pretty ordinary. You may notice he’s recreating some famous art pieces and wonder why he wraps them in plastic, but the realization of what’s actually going on will make your jaw drop.

Eley’s paintings are not wrapped in plastic; he paints them to look that way! Yes, all those plastic bits you see are actually painted on and they look like a perfect optical illusion. Crazy, right?

Our favorite has to be Starry Night by van Gogh. Not only did Eley manage to skillfully recreate the famous painting, but he took it a step further and “wrapped” it in plastic that looks damaged and so realistic. If you like it, you need to follow the artist on Instagram for more!
