Brazilian Artist Draws What Life’s Like With a Pet

There’s nothing we wouldn’t do for our pets, but they often require a ton of discipline and patience. Brazilian-born illustrator, Ademar Vieria, creates art that depicts both the best and worst times of having a pet.

In his new comic book, Vieira draws both heart-warming and relatable scenarios for all pet lovers. “The comics show the ups and downs of this relationship of love and companionship, between a human and his pets,” Vieira told Bored Panda.

Vieria has only been making comic strips for two years now, originally finding a career in journalism and then as a screenwriter. It was in 2020 that he started to produce comic strips as a way to express how he was feeling, and people loved it! “I saw that I had discovered a fantastic way to communicate with people,” he said.

Vieria’s comics are more versatile as well. He focuses on social issues and personal experiences in his earlier strips. However, his new graphic novel Sam & Oscar is totally inspired by his experience with his own pets—his three dogs and his cat!

Although Vieira explains that it’s difficult to format his comics into the provided Instagram format, we love seeing his new stuff, and can’t wait to see his book!
